The concert “I am darkness and you are light: Rites of Spring”, which took place on Wednesday, April 9, 2025 at the Experimental Stage of the Heraklion Cultural Conference Center, was a great success, moving the audience and highlighting the power of art as a means of social awareness.
The event was dedicated to the memory of the victims of the Tempi accident and the struggle of their families for justice. Through songs, poetry and spring stories, the performance attempted to shed light on the deep darkness and provoke thoughts about the blinding glow of false light.
The participation of the choirs “Kotzam” and “Lakkos”, as well as the musicians Asteris Varveris (lafta, lute, guitar), Sol Likertwood (cello), Panagiotis Kapizionis (bouzouki) and Maria Koti (musical direction, performance coordination, percussion, choir direction), contributed decisively to the creation of a unique atmosphere.
The performance, organized by the “Thyrathen” Museum, was a great success, with tickets being sold out and the audience responding warmly to the call to participate in a modern ritual with reference to Spring.
The success of the event confirms the importance of art as a means of expression and social commentary, offering the audience an experience that combined aesthetic pleasure with reflection.
