In collaboration with the Region of Crete and the support of the Municipality of Archanes - Asterousia, on Saturday September 7 at 21:00 there will be a concert by the Thirathen vocal group, at the old cinema in Archanes with free entry.
The Thirathen Vocal Group travels to the Mediterranean and sings traditional melodies in the embrace of the great sea. With Greece as the navigator, the songs that will be heard unite the Mediterranean and sail musically from the Aegean and Ionian seas to the Adriatic and Iberian seas.
The music of the Mediterranean is full of rich history and variety, reflecting the multicultural influences that have shaped the region. Each Mediterranean country has its own unique musical tradition, but there are also common elements that connect these cultures.
In this musical journey, Thirathen Vocal Group will unite different cultures with the Greek musical tradition and will sing in Arabic, Albanian, Turkish, Spanish and Greek.

The Thirathen Vocal Group was founded in 2017 and is under the auspices and supervision of the Thirathen Museum. It is a polyphonic vocal ensemble, the majority of whose members are accomplished professional musicians and choristers with many years of choral experience. The repertoire it covers includes traditional Greek songs, harmonized for a three- or four-part choir, as well as polyphonic traditional songs from the musical traditions of the world, with an emphasis on the Mediterranean and the Balkans. The Thirathen Vocal Group mostly presents its repertoire without the accompaniment of musical instruments (a capella), thus highlighting in the best way the variety and breadth of both the human voice and the musical polyphonic tradition.
