On Monday 25/09/2023 at 20:00 the thirathen Vocal group is going to give a performance at Krousona High School, a performance dedicated to women. The event is organized by the Region of Crete and the support of the Krousonas Cultural Association "Nea Genia".
A few words about the show
The woman, as a source of inspiration, through various roles in her social development, is a timeless and topical issue, even in the present day. Through the musical traditions of the world, we see all aspects of woman unfolding: from the girl who dreams and hopes to see her lover again, to the young lady, to the lover, to the mother, to the abused woman, to the woman victim, to the woman planeutra, in the female scherzoza up to the femme fatale. In this performance, the Thirathen Vocal Group will present traditional songs, and not only, dedicated to women, from all over Greece and the wider region of the Balkans and the Mediterranean and then, it will travel from Western Europe to Mexico. Cross-border and cross-cultural songs will be heard, which have as their common theme women in their broadest manifestation and, in addition to the Greek language, songs will also be heard in Bulgarian, Albanian, German-Jewish (Yiddish), Sephardic, Mexican, Arabic and Turkish.

The Thirathen Vocal Group was founded in 2018 and is under the auspices and supervision of the Thirathen Museum. It is a polyphonic vocal ensemble whose majority members are accomplished professional musicians and choristers with many years of choral experience. The repertoire it covers includes traditional Greek songs, harmonized for a three- or four-part choir, as well as polyphonic traditional songs from the musical traditions of the world, with an emphasis on the Mediterranean and the Balkans. The Thirathen Vocal Group presents its repertoire without the accompaniment of musical instruments (a capella), thus highlighting in the best way the variety and breadth of both the human voice and our musical polyphonic tradition.
